Future Hope & Baby Centre was started on February 6th 2006. Jane Mbogo, the Founding Director had visited another orphanage. While there, a volunteer Children’s Officer came visiting though unlike Jane, he needed help with two abandoned girls for a period of two weeks. Jane accompanied the director to the small room where the children had been abandoned.
Of the two girls, the younger one suffered from rickets and could not move by herself. The orphanage could only help the older one. Jane, with the permission of the officer, took the younger child home with her. An X-ray proved that she was one and a half years old and that she suffered from rickets but it was treatable and it commenced forthwith.
Two months later. another vulnerable baby Allan joined, towards the end of April. a baby six weeks old joined. In June, another baby one and a half years old joined the home. In December, a four months old baby Angel joined.
A year later, in February 2007 Jane received two babies the same day. This is when Jane and her family realized that these babies were home to stay and since the bed sitter Jane and her family shared with the children was too small, she had to look for a bigger house.
Jane got her first sponsor from Sweden, Ann who in turn worked with friends and later the same year Monica and Jessica Bernestrom from Sweden visited the orphanage in their big house in Kasarani. Many more children found their way to the centre Twelve children have since been re united with their families. The centre is home to 25 children. aged between 14 years and 3 months this year 2017. The Centre takes care of abandoned infants and vulnerable children.
